Dire Need to Protect and Preserve the Culture and History of Gilgit-Baltistan

    

    Gilgit-Baltistan was dominated by Buddhism which left various rock inscribed between 5000BC to 8th Century. Despite of the fact that the Gilgit-Baltistan is well known across the globe for its rich Archaeological sites rock carvings inscriptions, this archaeology and Museum sector in Gilgit-Baltistan has been the least emphasized sector resulting into continues depletion and loss of this great heritage. In addition there is dire need to formulate and implement conservation policy in the Archaeology sector thus further depletion and loss of this heritage could be avoided.

    The planned activities under this project would lead towards conservation, development and promotion of rich Archaeological heritage of Gilgit-Baltistan.

Furthermore the sector is interlinked with Tourism promotion and is one of the major Tourism products of region thus demands comprehensive promotion campaign at National and International level.
