COVID-19 emerged as the biggest humanitarian and economic crisis.
Lockdown and shutdown have brought the economic activity to a grinding halt.
Every section of the economy and society has been impacted by the Pandemic with
a more adverse effect on daily wagers, informal workers and existing
businesses. To minimize the impact of COVID-19 on businesses and lives, the
Government of the Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) is focusing on such activities and programs
that help/support the social sector and restore economic activity to provide
livelihood opportunities across the region.
Gilgit-Baltistan
e-Rozgar Scheme, a flagship initiative of the Government of the GB under CM
initiatives has been designed with a total cost of Rs. 100.00 million (Rupees
Ten Crore only) to provide subsidized loans to the micro, small and medium
(MSMEs) Information Technology startups and existing business in IT Sector in
collaboration with Commercial Banks. The government of the GB will provide
Markup Support and Risk Coverage to minimize the cost of commercial loans for
the MSMEs, and to overcome the pandemic effect of COVID-19 on existing
business.
Gilgit-Baltistan e-Rozgar Scheme
has been designed with a special focus on generating employment opportunities
for the youth by creating economic activities. University Graduates with
Entrepreneurial Skills and Diploma / Certificate holders of Technical /
Vocational Training Institutes, as well as existing businesses hit by COVID-19,
will be considered. The GB e-Rozgar Scheme will
provide Loans and Employment opportunities to the young generation of the
region. GB E-Rozgar Scheme 2022 will help youth to stand on their own feet by starting
their own business. This Scheme aims to beat Poverty and other people battling
jobs who are laid off.
