Until now, in GB, only one organization i.e.,
Special Communication Organization (SCO) which is a Govt owned entity, is
providing 4G internet services. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, countries across
the world implemented strict lockdowns where businesses, shops, transportation,
and educational institutes etc. were closed. Resultantly, Govt. organizations
across the world resorted to make necessary arrangements for working/studying
from homes which increased the demand for a strong internet connectivity
manifold. To cope up with this challenge and to increase opportunities for the
youth of GB, Govt. of Pakistan has also decided to improve the internet
connectivity in the region. For this purpose, SCO were given huge additional
developmental budget to increase their capacity and improve their services
across GB. Similarly, Govt. is also issuing licenses to private mobile
operators for staring 4G services in the region. This will help in improving
the infrastructure and the people will have access to strong internet
connectivity. This will also help open up new avenues of jobs for the youth of
GB such as working from home as freelancers and earn their bread and butter in
a decent manner.
