President Ebrahim Raisi said on Tuesday that Iran will not back down on its ‘red lines’ in nuclear talks with major powers. European Union insisted that it is the right time for Washington and Tehran to take political decisions to figure out this enigma and to reach an accord. After eleven months of negotiation to revive the 2015 nuclear deal have almost reached their final stages that lifted sanctions on Iran in return for curbs on its nuclear programme.
Iran wants guarantees from the United States to remove all sanctions and will not abandon the deal once more, after then-US president Donald Trump walked out of the deal in 2018 and re-imposed sanctions. In full accordance with the principle and framework set by the Supreme Leader of Iran, the government pursues nuclear negotiations. In discussion, diplomats say several differences still need to be overcome that were also hit by a last-minute demand from Russia for a guarantee from the United States. Iran also maintained that Russian trade, investment and military-technical cooperation with Iran would not be hindered by sanctions over its invasion of Ukraine.
