Nouroz Festival Celebration in District Hunza Gilgit-Baltistan

 

Nauroz means new day and it is century’s old traditional and cultural festival celebrated as New Year of Iranian calendar on 21st March each year. Traditionally, its end of winters and start of spring. People plant new trees, decorate their homes and sow crop seeds with zeal and festivity. Nauroz is being celebrated across GB with multiple styles and traditions. 

It was celebrated in whole of Hunza District with great enthusiasm and zest. One of the biggest function was held at Gulmit Gojal by community. Thousands of trees were planted on the occasion. The culture department Hunza celebrated it with the help of Arts and Cultural Council Hunza at Aliabad. Honorable Senior Minister GB government. 

Mr Abaidullah Baig Col (R) was the chief guest of the occasion. Various cultural performances were showcased to entertain large number of audience. This year awards were also distributed among top artists and artisans in order to recognize their contributions.
