Sarfaranga Jeep Rally Shigar Gilgit-Baltistan

     

    Sarfaranga Cold Desert Jeep Rally held annually in Skardu in the month of August, at least 100 jeep racers and more than thirty bikers participates in the rally. Sarfaranga or Katpana Desert is the world’s highest cold desert, situated at an elevation of 2,226 meters (7,303 feet) above sea level in Shigar valley of Baltistan, Pakistan. 

    The sand dunes located in Sarfaranga village are a wonderful creation of Allah. These sandbanks are also known as the cold desert with strong winds that shift the dunes, forming different shapes each time. 

    This desert holds a unique place in the hearts of travelers due to its high altitude and cold region. Besides the Sarfaranga Jeep rally, a Bike rally, traditional Balti Cultural Show, a Polo Match, Raft competition, cultural May Fang (lighting) function, and Local Balti dishes also attracting the locals as well as foreign tourists.
