Untapped Tourist Destinations of Gilgit-Baltistan

    In order to minimize stress on existing tourist sites and to ensure spread of tourists, new destinations have been identified. Accordingly, access roads and allied facilities shall be developed in these proposed untapped sites which will further add up to the existing tourism related infrastructure in GB. Currently, Gilgit-Baltistan is being considered as summer tourist spot. Under this initiative, Gilgit-Baltistan shall be promoted as yearlong tourist destination through introducing season specific tourism activities and extensive branding. Therefore, following Ten (10) potential untapped tourist destinations of Gilgit-Baltistan have been identified/selected in the first phase:

1.      Derlay Lake, District Astore

2.      Fairy Meadows, District Diamer

3.      Atter Lake, District Ghizer


4.      Hushe Valley, District Ganche


5.      Shimshal Valley, District Hunza


6.      Khamosh Abshar, District Kharmong


7.      Dainter Valley, District Nagar

8.      Jarbaso Lake, District Shigar

9.      Katpana Desert & Lake, District Skardu

10. Kutwal Lake Haramosh, District Gilgit
